Phu Quoc is not only a beautiful island but also one of the most interesting places to visit in Vietnam. With a new regulation granted by the Prime Minister exempting visa requirements for international tourists, Phu Quoc is opening up to welcome international cruise ships to the picturesque island.
From mid-January onwards, international tourists visiting Phu Quoc no longer need to pass through Ho Chi Minh City’s Tan Son Nhat International Airport. Russian nationals will be exempted from visa when entering Vietnam within 15 days from January 1, 2009, according to a decision of the Vietnamese Prime Minister.
The fresh decision will apply to Russian ordinary passport holders regardless of the purpose of their visit.
In 2007, over 60,000 Russian visitors toured Vietnam, and the number is forecast to reach 70,000 this year, the National Administration for Tourism said.
At present, in addition to daily non-stop flights linking Russia and Vietnam, travel companies charter flights to Vietnam once or twice a week. (Source: VNA)
An agreement on visa exemption for common passport holders signed between Vietnam and Cambodia will take effect as from Dec. 4, 2008 announced the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Under the agreement which was signed in Hanoi on Nov. 4, 2008 the two countries’ citizens who holds common passports being valid in at least 6 months will be exempted from visa for stays of up to 14 days in each other’s territories. (Source: CPV / VNA)
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on August 17 has signed Decision No 135/2007/QD-TTg to promulgate a new regulation that will grant visa exemptions to Overseas Vietnamese from September 1, 2007.
Ethnically Vietnamese people that hold foreign passports and foreign nationals who are their husbands, wives and children will benefit from the new policy. more…
